    Early Or Premature Menopause

Menopause is a normal change to every woman’s life. It occurs between 45-55 ages that ends the fertility era of a woman. However, menopause is not a stage necessarily referred to elderly women. Early or premature menopause is more common than most women, fact shows that about 1% of women between the ages of 15 and 45 is affected. Women dealing with infertility in this early age are very frustrated and make it difficult to accept.

Doctors are unable to determine the cause for menopause in younger women. Although there are some laid reasons behind, like Premature Ovarian Failure (POV). Women with POV have ovaries that aren’t functioning properly. Either they stop producing eggs or no longer produce the hormones needed to ovulate. Second, surgical menopause involves the conscious decision of forcing women into menopause for specific health reasons. Menopause can be caused by chemotherapy or radiation cancer treatments. Chemotherapy and radiation kill cancer cells but, unfortunately, they also kill healthy cells. Infection is also linked with premature menopause. Infections such as the mumps and tuberculosis can infect the ovaries, affecting your hormonal balance. Smoking can also lead to early menopause.

Among the first signs of early menopause is the irregularity of the menstrual circle. What was once coming once in a month will not manifest itself two and three times a month. In some cases it will altogether stop for 3-4 months and then start again like nothing happened.

Also women commonly suffer from night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, headaches, and joint or muscle pain. Body shape changes are also common, causing you to put on weight around the abdomen. Additionally, water retention and menopause commonly go together.

Menopausal women can experience emotional ups and downs, including anxiety, depression, cravings, and forgetfulness. All of these symptoms are triggered by the fluctuation of hormones in the body during menopause.

Unfortunately, there are no menopause cures. Life has to go on. Menopause will eventually happen its just that it happened to you sooner. It is suggested that most women who have undergone early or premature menopause seek out hormone replacement therapy and support network group to help through the difficult times. You may be unprepared for such an immediate entry into menopause and friends, family, and other menopausal women.
